CBD Oil vs. Rick Simpson Oil

“RSO saved my life and killed my brain tumor. You need THC not jut CBD.”

Both CBD (cannabidiol) and Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) are both cannabis oils have become household names. Although they are both derived from cannabis, they are extremely different.

People have received amazing benefits from both the use of CBD as well as RSO,  from the treatment of seizures, cancer, autoimmune diseases to other serious life threatening illnesses, to pain relief and a general everyday supplement.

The Difference Between RSO and CBD:

Firstly, CBD products are generally derived from the hemp plant. Whereas RSO oil is derived from marijuana. CBD is Non-psychoactive, whereas Rick Simpson Oil is very psychoactive.

The difference between RSO and CBD lies in these fundamental differences: RSO tends to be strongly psychoactive and far more concentrated than CBD oils.

RSO is generally a full spectrum product, which means it is a whole plant extract. Whereas CBD is a single cannabinoid. CBD products will vary. There are CBD isolates (100% CBD), full spectrum and broad spectrum (broad spectrum contains the whole plant but has been specifically processed to be zero THC).

Both oils are made from the same plant: cannabis, respectively hemp. From a botanical perspective, cannabis and hemp belong to the same plant genus – cannabis. However, due to geographical factors and through breeding, the plant has developed into different species and strains, which produce a different harvest: Hemp produces few and small flowers with a low THC, and usually higher CBD concentrations.  Cannabis, on the other hand, refers to the recreational and medical plant which produces big and potent cannabinoid-laden flowers, but only small amounts of fiber. Again, they are botanically from the same plant family – just bred into different strains that yield a different roduct.

Further, Rick Simpson oil is almost always made particularly from Cannabis indica strains, which have been shown to be more effective for physical ailments. Sativa strains, on the other hand, are occasionally made into Rick Simpson oil that is to be used for mental illnesses. It is thus becoming apparent how CBD oil and Rick Simpson oil are very different products. Since they are coming from different strains (hemp and cannabis), they naturally contain different amounts of cannabinoids. Rick Simpson oil is a full spectrum plant extract of potent cannabis. It therefore contains very high levels of THC and other cannabinoids,  depending on the strain that was used. In addition to high levels of THC and CBD, other cannabinoids such as CBN and CBG are also present in concentrated amounts.

CBD oil, on the other hand, contains high levels of CBD, but only very, very small trace amounts of other cannabinoids such as THC or CBN….CBD alone will not likely reverse cancer or any chronic disease. It is of absolute, utmost importance to differentiate these oils to receive the an effective treatment.
